Sol, where are you?

The meaning of 'Sol, where are you?' has changed over the years as my relationship with photography and with my friends has changed. Initially the project was named after our group chat ‘Sol, where are you?’ as joke because the eponymous Sol kept disappearing on nights out in Cardiff.

The project started as a way for me to document my friends and eventually became an outlet for the loneliness and excess I was experiencing.

Through showcasing the photographs and journal pages as a slideshow and eventually as a book dummy, I learnt that people felt seen and understood by the project. I came to realise that a lot people felt similar to the way I felt.

I have now graduated university and I’ve left the project open ended as I’m sure the meaning will change again as my friends and I grow up.
