Finding Noah

I want to surround myself with people like me

People who are almost something and yet nothing completely

Together on a planet built by ourselves

Alone together and changing together

This time not for others

I don't want an intermediate phase, but to be myself

Hopefully one day without pain

(Noah, 2024)

Finding Noah explores the transitional space between boyhood and adulthood, while reflecting on puberty as a period of fluidity and transformation.

When one’s existence is politicised, (gender or sexual) identity often becomes fixated on in discussions, ignoring the person as a whole. This project questions that reduction and instead explores how one can navigate the wish to exist both within and outside of society’s labels and definitions.

The dunes serve as both a physical and metaphorical landscape: an uninhabited country suspended between land and sea, embodying the fluid in between state of adolescence.

Ultimately the project meditates on the question how do I become a man? in the sense of how do I become me?
